Why am I being asked to give parental approval?

We need your permission because privacy laws require parental consent for children to access online games or services that collect personal information. k-ID helps its partners configure their user experiences to make it age-appropriate and compliant for each individual user. Your child provided your email when creating an account with one of k-ID's partners, so we need to obtain your consent before they can access some or all of the content.

Since your child is under the age of digital consent, their account restricts certain features determined by our partners, until you provide consent, or they reach the age of digital consent in your region.

Disabled features may include:

  • Voice chat or free text chat with other players
  • Purchasing items for money
  • Receiving personalized recommendations
  • Receiving push notifications or marketing emails

The email you received contains a link to a step-by-step process where you can provide consent and set up permissions for your child; as well as confirm that you are an adult and the parent or guardian of the child user.

If you do not provide permission, your child may still be able to access some experiences, but they will not have access to the restricted features. This is also known as "Child Friendly Mode".
